Historically, Nutley was home to stone quarries and mills, and even had an artists’ colony in the 19th century. Nutley was famous for being the headquarters of Hoffmann-La Roche from 1929-2015. There was a lot of research conducted here for oncology, virology, and inflammation; and Valium and Librium were created there. Plans are now in place to convert the property to a medical school.

Nutley is easily accessible by car via the Garden State Parkway, and Routes 21 and 3; New Jersey Transit buses and trains travel to New York City and other local areas.
